The Dümmer, also called Dümmer Lake is a flat lake in the west of the North German lowland in Lower Saxony. The Dümmer is situated in a 500 sq.km large nature resort where it is the central landscape element apart from the Dammer Mountains and the Stemweder Mountain. The Dümmer-Lake is with 16 sq.km diked surface North Germany's second largest inland lake and an ideal water sports area for sailors and surfers.

In winter the Dümmer also holds a special charm for ice-boat sailors and ice skater.

The nature resort Dümmer offers quiet and diverse relaxation especially for hikers and cyclists all year round. Especially interesting perspectives offers the 18 kilometres long Dümmer-path, which surrounds the lake on the Dümmer-dike and the hiking paths and experience trails at the adjacent bordering Ochsen moor in the south. The here located nature conservation station informs about the tasks and the importance of the nature resort and offers guided tours.

The lake is of course also an outstanding water sports resort for sailing, surfing, rowing and paddling. In winter ice sailing and ice skating on the frozen surface is a big hit. Angling, swimming, horseback riding, golfing are only a few leisure time activities, which are possible at the nature reserve. East of the lake is the Oppenweher moor situated. Hiking/plank paths make this natural area accessible. Unique and fascinating is especially the blooming heath and the cotton grass. The large wooded areas of the Dammer Mountains and the Stemweder Mountain are best discovered by hiking.

The Dümmer offers plenty of leisure possibilities. Boats hire, sailing school, mini-golf course, bathing beaches and adventure playground. In addition you can visit the Dümmer museum, which founded in 2003. Every summer on the 3rd weekend in August you can experience a highlight at the Dümmer. The motto in the villages at the Dümmer is then: 'The Dümmer burns'. A diverse programme with lots of event highlights for big and small awaits you and of course plenty of music.
The highlight on Saturday night is the large brilliant fireworks directly above the lake, which takes place in Hüde and Lembruch annually. It's great to watch the fireworks directly from the lake.
